The Lourenço Building, designed by architect Miguel Magalhães, is planned to include the rehabilitation of a building classified as a Property of Public Interest (General Protection Zone) and the construction of two interconnected multi-family residential blocks. These blocks will be integrated into a unique urban design that completes the city block and interacts with the OITA Shopping Centre.
The program combines housing, retail, and services, with two basement parking levels and an interior public courtyard connected to the pedestrian network.
A balance was sought between historical heritage and contemporary urban life. In addition to the meticulous restoration and preservation of the entire listed structure, the project introduces new architecture featuring organic geometries, green spaces, and a new street-facing facade that promotes pedestrian permeability and an integrated reading of the city.
The building comprises a total of approximately 70 apartments of different types. The project is currently in the licensing and administrative approval phase.
